Blog Post 7

Render your opinion, in 20 lines, about a work of art you've enjoyed recently. Give your readers the basics of what the work of art entails, and provide your opinions/recommendations regarding the work. Ultimately, why did you enjoy this, and why should we care to enjoy it as well? If you can link to anything on the web that would add-to/support your post about the work of art, please do so.

One work of art that i have recently listened to is Naive - by the Kooks. I first heard this song at the end of 17 again starring Zac Efron . I only heard two lines of the song , but the lyrics that i heard prompted me to search the song on the internet. the lyrics said " You're such an ugly thing, for someone so beautiful". This line caught my attention because i thought it was kind of deep at the time. I also noticed how it was a contradiction and perhaps even used juxtaposition (placing two opposites next to each other in order to emphasize or bring attention to the other). Once i found out what the song was called i decided to  purchase it and then listen to it. At the moment i was really into the song because it was kind of warm out and i was in a summery mood. the song melody and aura reminded me of summer and laying out in the sun so i continued listening to it. Overall i think the song is a good one. It's kind of catchy and the genre of it kind of resembles some of the other artists that i typically listen too.   I did some research on the band found out that they are a pop/rock group originated in UK. i found that odd because at the moment a lot of the new artists that i have been listening to have seemed to have started in the Uk. i found some of their other songs. i recognized one of them as a song that i had heard on a car commercial once before , however i didnt like it as much as the one i had already found.

  1. Hey Diamond, although I have never listened to Naive by The Kooks, I can still really relate to you. You said that after hearing one line from a song, you immediately wanted to find it online so that you could listen to it whenever. I know exactly where you are coming from because when I hear a song that I really like, and a specific line catches my attention, then I would immediately use this application on my phone to listen to the song and give me the title and artist name. I think that it is crazy how one line from a song can really open your ears to the rest of the song and make it easier to really depict and ponder about the true story and meaning behind the whole song.

  2. Diamond, first of all who "buys" music? Ever hear of Frostwire? hahahaha jk! But i know the exact feeling you get when you hear a song in a movie or in a show and you don't even know the name of it so you literally have to hunt the song down but its so worth it in the end. I can relate to that personally because i heard the Naked and Famous song "Young Blood" in a show and it took me like 3 weeks o find. I also like how you used juxtaposition, that's impressive how you picked that up. I haven't listened to your song yet but if i like it ill let you know!
